A: Promo items are great tools for generating sales. In fact, research shows that 52% of people who receive a promotional product do business with the advertiser afterward! Try a gift that’s useful and has a high perceived value, such as an auto emergency kit, digital tire gauge, or a quality umbrella. Imprinted visor caddies and steering wheel covers are also a good option because they keep your logo in sight.

The goal was to promote enrollment in a hospital care plan providing benefits to senior citizens. The hospital introduced its new GoldenCare Plus program of health services to senior citizens covered by Medicare and adopted as an advertising tagline, "With GoldenCare Plus you may never have to pay another hospital bill." Specialties and newspaper, radio and direct mail advertising were used to reach persons 65 and older in a three-county area.

Prospects were mailed a logo imprinted applique and an invitation to an open house at the hospital, which provided valet parking and Boy Scouts to assist visitors. A number of theme imprinted specialties, including plastic bags, pencils, eyeglass tissue kits and first aid kits were distributed at the open house and at subsequent health fairs and shopping center exhibits. Individuals who enrolled received their membership cards and the name and phone number of their GoldenCare Plus personal advisor. Door prizes were also offered at the open house. More than 2,500 senior citizens attended the open house and more than 15,000 were said to have enrolled in the program. Market share in hospital admissions, particularly among senior citizens, purportedly rose 11 percent. Success in the initial program was reported to have led to adoption of the package by 12 other hospitals for exclusive use in their areas.
