Employee
Recognition and Morale Building
Morale
can determine a company's survival or failure. High morale
is likely to have a positive impact on the company's results
while low morale will have the opposite effect. When employees
perform at their best, are dedicated to the company and
to their work, the company will become more successful.
There are many ways to create happy employees that will
do a better job, have better attendance records, make fewer
mistakes, and stay with the company longer while projecting
a better overall image for the company.
Here are a few ideas that can help you build that morale
through Employee Recognition programs. Not all employees
work at their job for the money. Yes, money does help pay
the bills every month; however some employees also need
to feel appreciated as well as get their weekly pay check.
Anniversary Gifts
Celebrating years of service is a great way to recognize
your employees. We have quite a few companies that do this
through engraved
crystal bowls, engraved
crystal awards or gift certificates. Our Selective
Gift Program is very easy to set up and many of our
customers purchase these gift certificates quarterly to
recognize their employees. Also, items like upscale keepsakes
and collectibles are a good idea. Products made of high-end
materials, like a crystal clock or etched-crystal dinner
bell would be a classy touch.
New
Hire Welcome Gifts
Don't forget to welcome the newbie's with gifts like
desk accessories, desk sets, USB drives, and fresh-cut
flowers. An engraved name plate or business card holder
is also a nice gesture to let them know you welcome them
in to the organization.
Award Programs
There are various employee recognition award programs that
can be put together, just like commemorating years of service,
you can also recognize your employees through sales contests,
President's awards, Employee of the Year and so on. Ideas
should vary just as much as the awards programs do.
Debossed
Leather jackets are pricier, yet-sure-to-be-appreciated
awards that will be proudly worn by the Employee of the
Year, or given to a department that just passed a milestone
event such as 5 years accident free. These jackets can be
ordered in a smaller quantity, and can be embroidered on
the inside or debossed on the outside. For a very special
jacket, leather in-lay's can be done for a one of a kind
jacket and a spectacular reward.
Retirement Gifts
Thank long-time loyal employees who are retiring with a
special remembrance, such as a high-end crystal piece of
art glass that can be admired in their home for years. A
less-expensive alternative could be a luxury pen set in
a wooden gift box or an engraved watch.
One
of the easiest things to do is to celebrate employee birthdays.
You can do this either individually, if in a smaller office,
or for larger companies you can set aside one day each

month
to recognize all employees whose birthdays fall in
that month. Providing them with a small token to make
them feel remembered will go a long way.
Providing
free tea and coffee, or hosting a free breakfast once
or twice a month will show you are making a conscious
effort toward togetherness and interaction.
You could appoint a group of employees whose job will
be to plan quarterly outings like a bowling night,
a picnic at a beach, or a fishing trip on a boat.
These outings provide a rare opportunity for employees
at all levels to meet on an informal and friendly
basis. This can help break down tensions and increase
morale.
